To put it in short, Anna did win the medical emancipation. But the worst part is that she did not want to go in front of the court to be able to win the trial. When she did, all hell broke lose. She knew that she would have to say some things to the court room that nobody would want to hear.
What Anna said surprised everybody in the courtroom including Campbell Alexander who had no idea about it. She said that "Kate asked Anna to kill her" this was because Anna had the power to control what would happen to Kate. Anna was Kate's lifeline. If she chose to donate to Kate, Kate would live longer and suffer. But, if she did not donate to Kate, it was almost 100% sure that Kate would end up dying. When the judge visited Kate in the hospital room he questioned her to see if what Anna was saying was true. It turns out, that she said that she does not want to die, but she does not want to continue living in pain and suffering. This leaves the judge to rule in one decision. He says that Anna will have medical emancipation from her parents, but she will continue to live with her parents until she is at least 18 years of age. When Anna hears the verdict-there is only one thing that she can think "Well, Campbell did it. He got what I wanted, what Kate wanted"
Sadly, Anna couldn't help but to think what life would be like after. She had the feeling like she had just signed Kate's death sentence.
