The learning methods will be individual and group
teaching methods. I will assist staff and patients one on one as needed
with the discussed material and discuss and assess the feelings and
concerns of staff and patients using affective learning techniques.
Activities and assignments: I will be reviewing
literature, discussing with my nurse preceptor, reviewing previous
facility data for factual information on patient falls and prevention.
Activities I attended at the facility are meetings about patient falls,
physical and occupational therapy sessions and discussions with staff
members about they see in facility needs.
Preliminary course outline of topics; describe in
the text but include the actual detailed outline in the appendix: I will describe the outline topics in
the text and include the actual detailed appendix.
Evaluation method for each behavioral
objective:I will evaluate through
observation and assessing with the staff how effective the patient’s use
of call lights after my survey discussion is. One of the behavior
objectives are is using the call light if you are feeling weak. I will
also evaluate through my preceptor how effective the call light use and
assessing patients at falls risk has changed after my survey with the
patients. For the expression of staff members and patients attitudes of
the falls risk patients and implementation of changes that they feel need
to occur or have. I will also ask the staff and my preceptor about their
ideas and attitudes of the changes they feel have taken place with the
patients or still need to work on. I will discuss with the staff and my
preceptor if the staff have felt that they have followed the necessary
steps needed to prevent falls in the future in patients based on my
research and what they have been doing in the facility that may need
reinforcement as far as what is and is not helping meet these goals for
the patients and the facility as a whole.
