Based on the psychology of every child, it mostly depends on how you raise them. Do not let the child control your life or think that your world revolves around them. However, if you start to see major improvements in their life and the way that they treat you, then you can acknowledge them and even reward them. The most basic concept that you need to learn is to not let the child be your friend, you have to let them know that they are only your son/daughter. Once children understand this, the rest will be much more easy for them to comprehend. The first thing that you need to check is if your children listen to you when you tell them to do something like "go clean your room" or "can you help me find the blanket?" If they do not listen to you, and they just walk away then you know that you need to enforce your authority as soon as possible. The first thing that you do to enforce your authority is punish them by not listening to you. Some punishments that many parents give their children are taking their doors off of their hinges. However, many people view this as cruel and that you are not giving your children enough privacy. But, when a child goes as far as to yell at you, talk back, ignore you, or not hear you because their head phones are playing too loud in their ears, that is when you know you need to take what they see as something that they have like their cell phone away so that they can appreciate what they have more. You can also take your children to pantries to help the people that work their pass out food to those in need. Community service is also another great option. When children see how it is to help someone they will feel much different about themselves, and their purpose in life. As long as you keep these rules enforced they will obey you. Make sure you also talk to them often about subjects like their education, grades, and chores around the house. Every once in a while, it is nice to cut the kid a break.
