Toilet training your child

Toilet training usually begins around the age of 2 years old. When the toddler is able to understand a command and do it, they are old enough to learn how to hold their bodily functions until getting to the toilet. Some parents do not believe in toilet training until the child initiates it. This may occur around the age 3-5 years old. Parents believe that the strict toilet training is abusive in nature and emotionally harms their child. Some parents feel by delaying this process they avoid emotional trauma in their child. Waiting until the child is 3-5 can be emotionally traumatic for the child some other parents believe. When other children are in preschool, they are not because they continue to go in their diapers. This makes the child isolated and feel bad they are not able to control themselves. Some children do not know any better, so when other kids do not want to play with them because they may have an odor. The children don't understand why. Some parents toilet train at such a young age that the child is not toilet trained, it is the parents who are "mommy trained'. They put their child on the toilet every hour or two in order to "catch" them going before they go. This is not the child initiating the toileting, it is the parents.
