The Nintendo DS

Video games have quickly become one of the world's most popular forms of entertainment in the past few years. Developers are constantly trying to find new ways to please the masses, whether through the creation of a new console or the development of a new game. One console that has recently revolutionized hand-held gaming is the Nintendo DS. It's two LCD screens; one of them a touch screen, allowing truly advanced game play with graphics unmatched by any hand-held predecessor, and this neat little device has been simply flying off the shelves since 2004.

The Nintendo DS's unique clamshell design allows for maximum portability, as it can easily fold down to pocket-sized proportions. Its 10-hour battery life makes it ideal to bring on long trips or plane flights. It will keep the kids occupied for the full 10. One of its most innovative new features is that it has Wi-Fi Internet capabilities, which lets gamers play interactively with other gamers around the world, provided there's a Wi-Fi connection nearby. With its huge roster of enthralling games being expanded everyday, who wouldn't want this hot new piece of technology?

The DS is great, but sometimes gamers get bored after countless hours logged on their devices. Fear not game junkies; Nintendo released the DS Lite in 2006, which has most of the same functionality as its predecessor, but in a lighter, slimmer and brighter package. The newest edition, the DS Lite, is keeping gamers baited with anticipation until mid-2009.
